Dr Beth Hough

BMBS, FRACGP, FASLM

Dr Bethany Hough is a Specialist GP and Lifestyle Medicine physician, holding dual fellowships with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine (ASLM).

Beth developed a strong interest in Lifestyle Medicine early in her General Practice career, recognising the importance of moving beyond a predominantly reactive model of healthcare to provide more proactive, personalised and whole-person care. She subsequently completed a Master’s in Lifestyle Medicine, with a focus on the evidence behind nutrition, physical activity, sleep, social connection, substance avoidance and mind-body health.

Her clinical focus has increasingly centred on perimenopause and menopause, and the significant impact this stage of life can have on physical health, mental wellbeing and quality of life. Beth is passionate about helping women navigate this transition with individualised, evidence-based care that addresses both symptoms and longer-term health.

She takes a holistic approach to menopause management, considering the interplay between lifestyle interventions and hormonal therapies. She recognises that there is no single approach to menopause care and works collaboratively with each woman to develop a management plan that reflects her symptoms, health history, priorities and goals.

Beth has undertaken further menopause training through Healthy Hormones. Her broader clinical interests include metabolic health, insulin resistance, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes and PCOS, which frequently intersect with women’s health and the menopausal transition.

Outside of work, you will often find Beth riding her cargo bike with her two young daughters!
