Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed. You can book directly with any of our specialist GPs.

Can I see a doctor by telehealth?

Yes. Telehealth is available for all new and existing patients, Australia-wide.

Will I get a Medicare rebate?

Yes, if you have an eligible Medicare card. All our appointments, in person and by telehealth, are eligible for a rebate. If you don't have Medicare, the full fee applies. Call us if you're unsure.

Do you bulk bill?

No. We're a private billing practice and our doctors set their own fees. You pay the full fee upfront, and your Medicare rebate is paid into the bank account linked to your Medicare. If cost is a barrier and you live near Ballina, you may be eligible for our funded Healthy Midlife Program. The Healthy Hormones app is free for everyone.

Do I need a blood test before my appointment?

No. Perimenopause is diagnosed from your symptoms, and most hormone levels swing too much at this stage to be useful. Your doctor will order any tests you need during your appointment, mainly to rule out other conditions, and can often start treatment without waiting for bloods.

If you'd prefer to have bloods done beforehand, your usual GP can arrange them. Please send us a copy of the results before your appointment. Your Remi doctor may also arrange further tests if needed.

Will you work with my regular GP?

Yes, we prefer to work alongside your regular GP. With your consent, we'll send them a summary once your treatment plan is established.

Do you prescribe bioidentical or compounded hormones?

Body-identical hormones are chemically identical to the hormones your body makes. They're TGA-approved, which means they've been assessed for safety, quality and effectiveness, and they're what Remi doctors usually prescribe. They're available from any pharmacy, and many are government-subsidised through the PBS.

Compounded "bioidentical" hormones are made by compounding pharmacies and haven't been through the same assessment. Some of our doctors may prescribe them when approved options don't suit you, for example if you react to an ingredient or need a dose or formulation that isn't available.

If you've already tried body-identical hormones and believe you'll need a compounded option, book with Dr Noara, Clare or Emma and raise it at your first review.

What if I can't find an appointment?

New patient appointments open up to six weeks in advance and often book out. If there's nothing available, join our Priority List and we'll be in touch when a cancellation comes up or new appointments are released. You can also join if you've booked an appointment but would like to be seen sooner.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Our doctors have long waitlists, so please give us at least 24 hours' notice. That way we can offer your time to someone on our Priority List.

  • 6 to 24 hours' notice: a $100 fee for reviews, or $200 for initial consults.
  • Less than 6 hours' notice, or not attending: the full appointment fee applies.

Medicare rebates can't be claimed on cancellation or missed appointment fees.

Feeling unwell before an in-person appointment? Let us know and we can switch you to a video or phone appointment instead.
